Overview
Technical competence is what gets people promoted into management, and it is not what makes them good at it. This programme covers the mechanics nobody hands over on the first day: how to set an expectation that holds, how to give feedback that changes behaviour, and how to delegate without either abandoning the work or taking it back.
Who should attend
Newly appointed supervisors and team leaders, and technical specialists moving into their first role with direct reports.
What you will be able to do
- Set expectations that are specific enough to be measured against.
- Give corrective feedback close to the event, without either softening it into nothing or escalating it.
- Delegate at the right level for the person and the task.
- Run a one to one that surfaces problems while they are still small.
How it is taught
Short input, then work, across 3 days of roughly 6 teaching hours each. Exercises run on situations delegates bring rather than on a case study written for a different organisation. Cohorts are capped so that everybody is asked something.
Available as classroom, live online, in house, hybrid.

Certificate
A GATI certificate recording what was attended, issued after the programme has run and attendance has been taken. Attending at least 80 per cent of the days earns a certificate of completion; attending less earns a certificate of attendance stating exactly what was attended. Every certificate carries a code that anybody can check against GATI's own record.
It records participation. and GATI does not claim one it does not hold.
