Overview
Mining careers are less linear than they look from outside, and the routes between technical, operational and corporate work are not obvious from the start. This week maps the disciplines and the paths between them, covers the qualifications and competencies each requires, and is frank about the realities: rosters, remoteness, cycles, and the effect of all three on a working life.
Who should attend
Graduates and early career professionals, technicians considering a professional route, HR and talent staff in mining, and career advisors working with the sector.
What you will be able to do
- Map the disciplines and the roles within each.
- Identify the qualifications and competencies a given path requires.
- Plan a route between technical, operational and corporate work.
- Assess the lifestyle realities honestly before committing.
- Build a development plan with evidence behind it.
How it is taught
Short input, then work, across 5 days of roughly 6 teaching hours each. Exercises run on situations delegates bring rather than on a case study written for a different organisation. Cohorts are capped so that everybody is asked something.
Available as classroom, live online, in house.

Certificate
A GATI certificate recording what was attended, issued after the programme has run and attendance has been taken. Attending at least 80 per cent of the days earns a certificate of completion; attending less earns a certificate of attendance stating exactly what was attended. Every certificate carries a code that anybody can check against GATI's own record.
It records participation. and GATI does not claim one it does not hold.
