Roundtable / Project and Contract Management

Reading a project in trouble

A roundtable for sponsors and PMO leads on spotting a failing project from its reporting, before the date moves.

Nobody writes that a project is failing. They write things that only make sense if it is: activity where progress used to be, a percentage that stalls at a plausible number, a risk that quietly becomes a fact of life.

This is a roundtable rather than a presentation, capped small so everybody contributes. Participants bring reporting they have found hard to read, anonymised, and the group works through it.

Held in a room rather than online because the value is in the conversation between participants, and that does not survive a video call at this size.

What you will leave with

  • The specific language changes that appear when a project manager has stopped believing the plan
  • Questions that surface the real blocker without putting somebody on the defensive
  • How to separate a project in trouble from a project being reported badly
