Cement Plant Operations
Equipment Operation in the Cementing Industry: Part (1)
Operating plant equipment correctly: start up, running, shut down and the judgement in between.

Overview
Equipment fails earlier when it is operated badly, and most of that is sequence and judgement rather than carelessness. This week covers correct operation of the major machines: the start up and shut down sequences and why the order matters, the parameters to watch while running and what a drift in each means, and the decision of when to stop a machine rather than nurse it. Isolation and permit practice is covered because it is where operation hands over to maintenance.
Who should attend
Plant operators and field technicians, shift supervisors, maintenance staff who operate equipment during testing, and trainers running operator programmes.
What you will be able to do
- Start up and shut down major equipment in the correct sequence.
- Monitor the parameters that indicate developing trouble.
- Decide when to stop a machine rather than continue.
- Carry out isolation and handover to maintenance correctly.
- Record operating information a following shift can act on.
How it is taught
Short input, then work, across 5 days of roughly 6 teaching hours each. Exercises run on situations delegates bring rather than on a case study written for a different organisation. Cohorts are capped so that everybody is asked something.
Available as classroom, live online, in house.

Certificate
A GATI certificate recording what was attended, issued after the programme has run and attendance has been taken. Attending at least 80 per cent of the days earns a certificate of completion; attending less earns a certificate of attendance stating exactly what was attended. Every certificate carries a code that anybody can check against GATI's own record.
It records participation. and GATI does not claim one it does not hold.
