Cement Plant Operations
Equipment and Process Functions in the Cementing Industry: Part (1)
Part one: the raw side. Crushing, conveying, storage, raw grinding and homogenisation equipment.

Overview
The first of three parts covering plant equipment by section. This one takes the raw side, from quarry face to kiln feed: crushers and their selection, conveying and storage systems, raw grinding equipment, and the homogenisation silos that absorb what the quarry could not. For each item it covers what it does, how it is sized, how it fails and what the operator and maintainer each need to watch.
Who should attend
Production and maintenance personnel on the raw side, new process engineers, technicians and supervisors, and planners scoping raw side work.
What you will be able to do
- Describe the function of each major raw side machine.
- Explain how each is sized and what limits its capacity.
- Recognise the common failure modes of each.
- Identify the operating parameters that matter for each.
- Trace a raw side problem to the equipment causing it.
How it is taught
Short input, then work, across 5 days of roughly 6 teaching hours each. Exercises run on situations delegates bring rather than on a case study written for a different organisation. Cohorts are capped so that everybody is asked something.
Available as classroom, live online, in house.
Programme outline

Certificate
A GATI certificate recording what was attended, issued after the programme has run and attendance has been taken. Attending at least 80 per cent of the days earns a certificate of completion; attending less earns a certificate of attendance stating exactly what was attended. Every certificate carries a code that anybody can check against GATI's own record.
It records participation. and GATI does not claim one it does not hold.
